Raising awareness for the Spare Rooms for Ukraine campaign

Cambridge and South Cambridge Council came to us for help running a Google Ads campaign for their Spare Rooms for Ukraine initiative. They had two clear goals: raise awareness among Cambridge residents and generate as many enquiries as possible. With a limited budget to work with, every pound needed to count.

To make that happen, we set up two key campaigns that worked together. The first was a display campaign aimed at local residents, chosen because it was a cost-effective way to get the message in front of as many people as possible. The second was a set of targeted search ads, built to drive genuinely interested people straight to the right landing page.

The real skill was in the balance. We split the budget carefully across both campaigns and put rules and triggers in place to make sure the spend was working as hard as it could at all times. We also set up a digital dashboard so the council could see exactly where the budget was going and how things were progressing, which kept the reporting clear and honest throughout.

The campaign did exactly what it set out to do. It raised awareness across Cambridge and brought in a high number of enquiries, all on a limited budget. Proof that a focused, well-managed approach can go a long way, even when the numbers are tight.
